Gillot’s Pont l’Évêque is a Normandy cheese rooted in tradition. Pont l’Évêque has been enjoyed in France since the 12th century and has been honoured with AOP (Appellation d’Origine Protégée) status. Products labelled with this mark are produced, processed and refined in a clearly defined region, safeguarding its authenticity and quality.

This mixed-rind cheese, made from pasteurised cow’s milk under strict PDO regulations, promises an authentic taste experience. The square shape, whitish to reddish crust, and ivory to straw yellow paste reveal a supple, slightly orange texture.

With a taste profile of butter and hazelnut, this cheese is rich and creamy with a hint of tanginess. The creamy texture of this cheese pairs beautifully with apples, pears, grapes, and almonds. You can also serve it with a baguette or crackers. Melt Pont l’Évêque to elevate dishes like gratins, quiches or fondue.

Founded in 1912 in the heart of the Orne countryside, Fromagerie Gillot has been dedicated to crafting traditional Normandy cheeses from raw milk for over a century. Today, under the leadership of the Fléchard family, it stands as the last independent SME manufacturer of camembert AOP and Pont l’Evêque. The cheese factory is a staunch advocate for the authenticity of camembert de Normandie AOP and raw milk cheeses, prioritising the aromatic richness of raw milk in their products.

Gillot is dedicated to preserving French gastronomic heritage by sourcing milk within a 40 km radius from family farms committed to animal welfare and environmental sustainability. The heart of Gillot’s cheese dairy is its camembert hand-moulding workshop, where experienced moulders delicately deposit over 77,000 ladle strokes daily, blending traditional techniques with modern technology to ensure diversity, quality, and tradition.

We always aim to send out products with the longest best before date possible, and you can expect 4 days as a minimum. Many of our fresh products will have a shelf life that exceeds this, so please get in touch if you’d like up-to-date information on our current stock. Our chilled products will be sent in temperature-controlled packaging with enough icepacks to keep them cool in transit for up to 72 hours.
