This smoked garlic is harvested and smoked in the town of Arleux, where the smoking process involves using a mixture of local peat and straw.

Arleux garlic cloves are dark pink in colour and have a distinct, delicious smoky aroma after being smoked for at least seven days. This garlic has a long history in the tiny village of Arleux, with some claiming the smoking of garlic for preservation dates back to Roman times.

This French smoked garlic has a long shelf-life and if stored correctly; in a dry, cool, dark room or cupboard will last many months.

Why not try roasting this smoked garlic and then adding it to butter before spreading on a fresh baguette, or making the classic French recipe of Provencal garlic soup? You could also use it to add a smokey depth to your escargots with garlic butter.
