Gillot unpasteurised Camembert with raw milk 250g

Gillot’s Camembert le petit cru – a traditional, hand-moulded, raw cow’s milk Camembert hailing from the heart of Normandy.

This Camembert is made from raw milk, sourced within 40km of Gillot’s cheese dairy, untouched by heat treatment, preserving the rich flora that guarantees an authentic and flavourful taste. The cheese has a bloomy rind and presents itself with a light, white, ribbed mould – a testament to its purity and quality.

As the cheese matures, it undergoes a transformation. Initially soft and mild, it gradually gains power, offering a rich and buttery texture with a distinctive earthy and mushroomy flavour profile.

For a traditional pairing, bake the Camembert and eat with a crusty baguette. You can top this with fresh thyme, sliced almonds, dried cranberries or garlic before baking for an elevated experience. To complement the cheese’s earthy flavour, fruits such as figs, grapes and apples pair well. Or, add your Camembert to a charcuterie platter with cured meats, salty olives and nuts and let the creaminess of the cheese add a balance to the other flavours.

Founded in 1912 in the heart of the Orne countryside, Fromagerie Gillot has been dedicated to crafting traditional Normandy cheeses from raw milk for over a century. Today, under the leadership of the Fléchard family, it stands as the last independent SME manufacturer of Camembert AOP and Pont l’Evêque. The cheese factory is a staunch advocate for the authenticity of Camembert de Normandie AOP and raw milk cheeses, prioritising the aromatic richness of raw milk in their products.

Gillot is dedicated to preserving French gastronomic heritage by sourcing milk within a 40 km radius from family farms committed to animal welfare and environmental sustainability. The heart of Gillot’s cheese dairy is its Camembert hand-moulding workshop, where experienced moulders delicately deposit over 77,000 ladle strokes daily, blending traditional techniques with modern technology to ensure diversity, quality, and tradition.

We always aim to send out products with the longest best before date possible, and you can expect 4 days as a minimum. Many of our fresh products will have a shelf life that exceeds this, so please get in touch if you’d like up-to-date information on our current stock. Our chilled products will be sent in temperature-controlled packaging with enough icepacks to keep them cool in transit for up to 72 hours.
