This French smoked salt is created from coarse Celtic Guérande salt, which is typically harvested in the Guerande marshes in the south of Brittany. After being dried, the coarse salt (“gros sel gris” in French) is slowly smoked for a few days using beech wood. Because of the method utilized, the grains are infused with smoke, giving the salt a powerful aroma and subtle flavour evocative of recently smoked meals and balancing the beech wood’s natural perfume with the light Guérande salt flavour. Simply add to grilled meat or vegetables, and use for marinades or seafood.

The Guerande salt’s thousand-year-old tradition continues to be carried out in the south of Brittany by Tradysel. They carry on this heritage by producing pure Guérande salt while ensuring the preservation of the location and this unique, natural product.
The Tradysel Guérande salt is entirely handmade, harvested each summer day on real salt marshes that have been preserved in their natural condition by generations of salt marsh workers (Paludiers). The harvesting ponds serve as the hub of a circuit where salt is concentrated as seawater slowly evaporates.
